Authentic Living

You may have arrived here if. . .

  • You struggle to be your most authentic self in the spaces you find yourself.

  • You hide from being known and seen for who you are.

  • You feel like you are living life for others, but not your true self.

  • You struggle to reconcile conflicting parts of your story and your identity.

  • You feel tired from feeling ashamed of who you are.

  • You feel you have lost the essence of who you are and you want to rediscover and reconnect with yourself.

What is Authentic Living?

Living Authentically can be living without shame, being the most real and honest version of yourself. For some, this is simply showing up and standing in your convictions and ideas, even if others don’t understand, for others it might look like choosing a career that resonates deeply with you, doing that hobby or wearing that particular clothing. To live authentically means to honour who you are, welcoming your whole self. To live authentically doesn’t mean fear or doubt are completely gone, it might mean showing up little by little and gaining confidence to be who you are.

How will therapy help me with this?

We will understand the roots of when you learned you could not be you, what you believed about the world, and how your core beliefs were shaped.

How might we work to help me live authentically?

As we learn more we may consider events that have not been processed or explored, events that taught you that your voice, essence and being were not welcome. We might try experiments to see what it is it is like to be you, whoever that looks like. As you journey we may understand how to build up your inner confidence, what makes you stand strong, challenging negative beliefs and self-talk, and replacing them with positive truths. Step by step we will challenge shame and the beliefs that you are not welcome as your full self.
